A Russian Doll is a scripted-comedy following Alex, a true wanabee with a tendency to zone out, on her burlesque journey to become a famous actress. After screwing up, like, hundreds auditions (but they totally weren't her fault because she knows she has talent), she decides to film her own masterpiece. While she provides very bad acting in the early takes, she suddenly zones out and everything change: She's good as hell but also lost in her fantasy, leading her and her team to inextricable and funny situations in various famous movies.
